Barriers Experienced by the Community

Median Household Income:

The combined median household income for Black and Latinx households is significantly lower compared to White households. Black households have a median income of approximately $48,000, while Latinx households have a median income of around $55,000, compared to $77,000 for White households as of 2023.

Pay Gap:

Black and Latinx workers both experience a pay gap when compared to White workers. On average, Black workers earn about 75 cents, and Latinx workers earn about 78 cents for every dollar earned by White workers.

Unemployment Rates:

Black and Latinx individuals face higher unemployment rates compared to White individuals. The unemployment rate for Black individuals is around 6.0%, while for Latinx individuals, it is approximately 4.8%, both higher than the 3.5% unemployment rate for White individuals as of mid-2023.

Poverty Rates:

Black and Latinx households experience higher poverty rates compared to White households. Approximately 20% of Black households and 17% of Latinx households live below the poverty line, whereas about 9% of White households are below the poverty line.
